LOGLINE: A gunfighter and a disparate, international posse of former warriors must overcome xenophobia and deadly werewolves when they are hired to protect a Romanian town.
GENRE: Action-Adventure
SYNOPSIS: A has-been gunslinger with a haunted past and his posse of misfit mercs are hired to save a Romanian village from werewolves. The gunman seeks to gain the villagers’ appreciation and the love of a Gypsy woman while embracing sacrifice, honor and fair play. The outcast faces a dilemma – while he is hired for his killing skills, he is shunned for these very qualities. Although he is an outsider, he does share the same moral code and work ethics as his employers. The Gypsy woman, an outcast herself for her possible werewolf ties, sees through his tough exterior and recognizes their shared values.
We open in 1870’s Paris, France with DONAVAN, an indifferent, American over the hill gunslinger. He and his traveling band of “Warriors From the Past” performers include a Spanish bullfighter, a naïve eighteen year old trick shooter, a ronin Samurai and a jolly Argentine gaucho. The performers are one big dysfunctional family, traveling the land with their wild west show like a band of gypsies. The old warriors are all damaged goods, each battling with their own inner demons. Each one of these mercenaries have been defeated in the past by a similar mission, and now they can’t look themselves in the mirror.
Being showmen more than killers, the warriors all use weapons and ammunition made or plated with silver. After a lackluster performance in Paris and an expensive bar brawl, Donovan and his “posse” land in jail with an expensive repair bill hanging over their heads. MARCEL, the Romanian man servant to a rich Lord, offers to bail them out if they agree to accepting a job offer– to protect his Romanian village from a Werewolf plague.
Upon arriving in Romania, the posse finds a luke warm reception from the local villagers. Although the village needs their help, the posse is treated like outcasts because of their violent nature. The xenophobia is thick in the air, demonstrated by the near stoning of a beautiful gypsy woman and child which the posse steps in to prevent.
The posse meets their employer, the elderly, wheelchair-bound LORD SORIN, and their adventures are on the way. Sorin seems to believe that a band of gypsies traveling through their country is to blame for the werewolf plague. The town is calling for their heads and the posse is expected to deliver.
